It is possible to “shop around” so every participant can create their own program.
All student choose their level when they sign up: Basic, Intermediate or Advanced.
It is possible to attend workshops across the levels in the following way:
Basic: Basic (own level) + Everybody
Intermediate: Intermediate (own level)+ Everybody + Body and movement
Advanced: Advanced (own level) + Everybody + Body and movement + Intermediate
When you choose your level please take yourself AND the rest of the class into consideration,
to insure that everybody gets the best out of the teaching.
Please note that there are workshop in different styles – and being on the advanced level in
Cuban salsa does not necessarily mean you can follow an advanced workshop in LA Style.
You are more than welcome to try something new and challenge yourself
– but please show consideration and choose a lower level.
Remember that the teachers often are hard to follow the first time you meet them
and that your doubts about your own level often is an expression of your own ambitions (which is good)
rather than your own honest perception of your current level :-)
This level is for you that is almost new to salsa or has been dancing other dance styles before.
It is an advantage if you have participated on a beginners class for a season or in one or more
workshops so you the basic steps, leading and rhythm.
Our focus is that it should be fun and you must enjoy the dance.
You will get an intensive introduction to music and movement in salsa, and pass it on in your own association.
Furthermore you will be introduced to “Rueda de Casino” where you will lean simple basic calls
so you know enough to participate in ruedas other places.
We get a taste of the basic elements in salsa and new trends from around the globe.
Be challenged in you music interpretation and introduced to other dance styles,
group dance, so you with motivation can pass it on in your own association.
Everybody with basic rhythm understanding and taste for new challenges can follow.
Here the focus is you personal developmen in the dance:
Body, movement, rhythm and smooth moves.
You will be able to pass this on back home in your own association.
You will gain good knowledge about the origin of the dance, expressions and movement paterns,
which you can use in your own dance and when you teach.
Examples: It can be workshops in reggaeton, rumba, afro cuban, styling.
You must as instructor be on an Intermediate or Advanced level to take part in these workshops.
This level is for you that have dances at least 3 seasons.
You are secure in the basic steps, rhythm, leading/following in turns and combinations
and you are ready to develop your dance further.
After these workshops you can act as helper/co teacher in salsa classes.
Examples of workshops in the Intermediate level:
Rueda Caller
You will be taught how to call a Rueda de Casino so you can call a basic Rueda.
Figures (style divided)
You will lean new interesting figures that you can take home and pass on in your own association.
This level is only for very experienced dancers and teachers.
You are very secure in the rhythm and you can lead/follow complicated figures.
You have a good understanding of the music and the timing in the dance.
You are quick to learn new figures and use them on the dancefloor or as part of your teaching.
Examples on workshops on the Advanced level:
Rueda Caller
You will be taught to call a Rueda de Casino, so you can call your own
Rueda in your classes, at shows or at the local salsatek.
Teaching
You will get tips and tricks you can use in your own classes. Is for both present and future teachers.
Figures (style divided)
You will learn nice figures that you can use as elements in your teaching.
